Why Flowing with Life Beats Hustling Harder?

Posted on August 22, 2025August 23, 2025 by G

Good Morning, Astral Souls!

Have you ever wondered that how we have been constantly taught and conditioned to strive for more and keep trying hard to achieve things we don’t want, people we don’t want to become, and above all, follow the standards of happiness and success laid down by a bunch of people who call themselves a society—exhausting our minds and achieving objectives while burdening their minds only to end up in discontentment.

Have you ever wondered what we’re running towards, and what the cost is of our persistence in doing more? We are in a race to make ourselves better and become more successful, happier, more accomplished, more learned, and more skilled.

We read, attend seminars, and push our brains to learn things we don’t have to, but what do we get in the end? – A tired body, a fogged brain, an anxious soul and even then, we think we are not doing enough and not trying harder.

But what if I tell you that this entire process is wrong? The way to achieve a fulfilled life is easy; simply flow with the river. All the exhaustion you feel from trying hard and doing more comes from trying to go against the flow.

The Concept of Wu Wei

In Taoism, the idea of “not doing hard” relates to the concept of Wu Wei (無為), which means “effortless action” or “non-doing.”It’s not about doing nothing, but about moving with life’s natural pace rather than forcing and having faith in the natural flow, enabling you to reach your goals with less strain and effort.

The Toes Test

If you’re still with me, pause and try this: stand on your toes to appear taller, then try to run. Can you run efficiently? No, it’s awkward and exhausting. Now, think about your daily life. How often are you running on your toes—balancing on that edge, using all your energy just to keep up appearances, to be “better” than others? This constant push drains your energy and dims your inner light.

We’re all trying to achieve a perfect image rather than being perfect, running towards things and people mindlessly, not knowing why we started to run towards these things.

The truth is, most of the exhaustion and frustration you feel comes from fighting against the natural flow of life.

Chasing Perfection, Losing Yourself

We’re obsessed with crafting perfect images rather than simply being ourselves. We chase people, goals, and ideals without even remembering why we started running in the first place.

This is the DNA of our modern society.

It’s why the self-help industry thrives, constantly selling us discipline, success, and alignment with their vision of the “ideal” you. But what they do is make you force progress onto yourself, pushing you further from your natural state.

Wisdom from Alan WattsAllan

Watts explained it beautifully by mentioning that we cannot forcefully breathe, we cannot pull our hair to make it longer, and we cannot pull our nails to make them longer; all this is happening naturally. The most essential things in our lives happen without any effort, so why are we trying so hard to make this life work? Consider this: when you try hard to sleep, you won’t be able to sleep easily. However, when you sleep without much effort, you tend to sleep better. We are a generation of tired souls.

Does it mean you sit and do nothing???????-

NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Power of Effortless Progress

Effortless action often goes unnoticed or is seen as lazy because society equates busyness with success. But actual progress doesn’t always come from pushing harder—it usually comes from resting, reflecting, and allowing ideas and creativity to arise naturally.

Look at some of history’s most brilliant minds: many worked fewer hours than people do today. They spent their time thinking, walking, observing—letting their ideas develop naturally instead of forcing them.

It doesn’t mean being lazy; it means stopping the constant hustle and trying so hard that you end up losing your energy to enjoy the actual things that matter. Effortless action and non-action may not be rewarded as they are seen as non-progressive, but there is always progress in them, and it is a better progression than a progress that is achieved by exhausting yourself.

The most accomplished individuals worked fewer hours than most people do today and spent the rest of their time thinking, walking, and observing — allowing ideas to develop naturally rather than forcing them.

Stop Standing on Your Toes

The harder you try, the more dangerous it can be—to your health, happiness, and sense of self. Instead of constantly pushing, try flowing. Everything that’s for you comes to you when you are at ease, as ease is the frequency that attracts ease towards you, just like more hustle attracts more hustle towards you.

So take a deep breath and witness your life’s adventures unfold with minimal effort and see yourself spending this energy on things that matter.,

Love
